Hello all! 'Tis Nfinity. I wanted to start a class on how to detect/identify/expose/ridicule/humiliate poseurs.
Why, you may ask? Simple. Because I can. And I don't like poseurs. They just get on my nerves by pretending to be something they aren't. I can't stand that. Plus, Katie is letting me. ;D So, if you're interested, join in and we can get started.

*eye twitches* It is my personal belief that a "poseur" is the label for those who do not conform completely to one social title or another.
DOWN WITH SOCIAL LABELS, DOWN WITH CONFORMITY!!!!!

Any way when I rule the world I will do away with all those nasty spelling rules AWAY WITH MLA!
If you are spelling Hippopotamus and you want to throw a ^ in there it doesn’t matter! If you wana randomly throw num#ers and apos’tro’phes thought out you’re righting that is quite alright!
BWHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!
*ahem* Sorry little power trip wont happen again. ;D

*Blink* Anyway.......First lesson:
A poseur is not, to the general public, a non-conformist, a poseur is someone who conforms to labels when they aren't actually being true to themselves. Or more importantly (and the thing that really irks me the most) they give a bad name and reputation to the 'labels' they are posing as. For example: the goth. The entire reason goths have a bad name now is because of those poseur tweaks who decided, "Hey, I wanna be goth!" and pretended by wearing all black and putting on tons of make-up and acting all anti-social. *eye twitch* Not all goths are anti-social and wear tons of black make-up and black clothes all the time!! *deep breath* That is a stereotype that people associate with goths because of those poseur wannabes.
Now, can anyone tell me the stereotypes of another 'social label'?

Um...I'm afraid I have to side with aleon here. Not on spelling though.
Social labels seem to me to be ridiculous things, and create unwanted tension. The only contact I've had with social labels is watching American Teen Movies, as, although we have cliques in my school, no one is social imprisoned in a particular group, and the 'snotty cows' is MY personal label for a collection of bullies in my class obessed with make up, boys, and back stabbing. In an enviroment where either you conform or are treated as an outcast (or this is what it looks like to me), if people don't belong to a group, and they want to, if they get it wrong because of the image the clique send out it is not their fault.
Yes, fine, I'll be quiet now.

Ahem...another posing group are the skateboarder posers, punk rock posers, the chav posers (as if chavs aren't annoying enough) and ohm the worst, the rich posers, ie those who act like they're better than everyone else when in reality they are just as poor as you.
And my definition of a poser is one who only pretends to like something or be something because it's "cool" or because they aren't smart enough to think for themselves.

Thank you Ashley. Well, since no one seems to care, I guess Katie should just resign my stupid idea to the Elysian Feilds. I hate teaching anyway.

I can't think of any other social labels. Apart from 'snotty cows', but that won't count...

There are TONS! Like the posers that pretend to like bands because that's what's cool, and all they can name is that one song that gets played to death on the radio and claim to be the band's biggest fan.
