* When someone in your year shows them a photo of them with some big film/pop star, you say 'eh' and couldn't care less.
However, when someone in your year comes in with a photo of their sister standing next to the tree which inspired Treebeard, you stare at it in wonder, going "WOOOOOW!!!!" and make plans to go and visit it yourself.

When it snows...
* You go out and re-enact Caradhras in your head, and shout "THERE IS A FELL VOICE ON THE AIR!!!"
* You forge a path for your chickens through the snow, remembering with a happy smile how Aragorn and Boromir did it for the hobbits.
* You try to walk on top of it.
* You start making hobbit snowmen.
* You then build the entire Fellowship as snowmen... and even though you're freezing and soaking wet, not to mention bored, and the entire lower half of your body is numb, you refuse to go inside until you've given them all heads.

I'd be so tempted to beat Legolas' head with a hockey stick... And no, I'm not talking about the snowman... *evil grin*

My sister did decide to use legolas as the coconut in her impromptu Fellowship Coconut Shy as soon as I'd finished putting their heads on...

I ended up throwing Gimli at Becca, because she was annoying me and I was going to start again on him anyway.
As we both collapsed giggling, I said "Nobody tosses a dwarf... proved him wrong, didn't I?"
And then shuddered under the inevitable mental images.

*When you went skiing, the sight of all the snow made you are repetedly reminded of Caradhras. *When you were taken to hospital in a helicopter, you were reminded of how the cast & crew of LotR used helicopters to get up to the top of mountains. You also tried to figure out why Sean Bean didn't like them (I can see why).
About the radar - I think that mine sound radar is pretty good; in my maths class the people behind me were trying to work out Grima's name. The part of the conversation that caught my attention was something along the lines of "old guy with a long beard...you know...". I turned round rapidly, and answered their query... The sight radar isn't as strong...can't really think of an instance worth recording.
*When you discover there is another imax marathon, you; 1. get really excited (to the stage of jumping up and down), forgetting all coursework you were in the middle of doing. 2. immediately type hasty emails to LotR-friends with lots of excess exclamation marks and capital letters. 3. discover it is the weekend before your graphics final deadline. 4. hate graphics even more than usual. ((SO UNFAIR!!!!))

You know you're obsessed when you assume the last name of one of the actors of LOTR and pose as their wife.
*My full name is Ebon Oleander Wenham~~ I'm married to David, he just doesn't know it yet.

*gets flashbacks to Frankie's devised piece* Eeeep...
* When you find out about another LOTR marathon, you decide to go in costume AGAIN, despite being one of the only ones there in costume last time, and not only that you decide to get ANOTHER costume instead of wearing your perfectly good Legolas one.

You know you're obsessed when you buy the audio tapes of someone reading the book for the BBC, just cos they sound like Gandalf, and despite the fact you have the book already....

* You get your allowance increased, and cannot physically wait until you can dash to the bookstore and buy the Radio 4 production of LOTR or that big illustrated version you saw...
