Has anyone else here read Georgette Heyer books? She wrote romance during the middle of the 20th Century, but they're so good it makes up for the mushiness.
I recommend Devil's Cub in particular, Vidal is very good to rant at.

They are strongly recommended. Very well researched. One of them, set at Waterloo or thereabouts, was on the reading list for the Royal Military college
