*giggle*
Another thing I learnt - the HP people did their research. The dragon only had wings and two legs instead of the more usual yet incorrect depiction of them having wings and FOUR legs. They could only have four limbs, like bats. Otherwise they're evolutionarily impossible.

Why?

All vertebrates have four limbs. For birds and bats, two of them are wings. Dragons would have to be the same.

To be honest.... A creature capable of breathing flames is an evolutionary impossibility, especially a reptillian creature. As they lack the means to control their internal temperature through homeostasis, storing and shooting flame would really mess up their bodys, even if they could contain the heat.... mythical creatures shouldn't be analysed

Erm, no, not really. Theories are that they could have two sacs either side of their mouth, like swim bladders in fish, which contain substances which burst into flame when mixed.

You mean there are theories on how dragons could actually work? Thats going too far. Also, in the Pern dragonrider books dragons have 4 wings and 4 limbs, but thats because they are non-earth life forms

Theories: Yes. I know nothing of Pern dragonriders
