They're both called Captain Jack... but which is better? First up, Captain Jack Sparrow of the Black Pearl. Main selling point is that he's Johnny Depp. But he is also extremely random and funny, and is mean to The Meerkat We Do Not Speak Of Bloom. Here we are... A few weeks ago, I'd have agreed he was the coolest Captain Jack ever. But we have a contender... Captain Jack Harkness from Doctor Who. He rides bombs. He dances with girls in front of Big Ben. On his invisible spaceship, may I add. He used to be a criminal but then changes and saves the world. Oh, and he has mystery - he used to be a Time Agent, but someone stole two years of his memories and he wants to find out what happened. Let the debate begin.

It's very difficult, isn't it? And they both have similar goodbyes:
Sparrow - "Will... nice hat."
Harkness - "Rose! Love the T-shirt!"

on the one hand, we know for a FACT that sparrow looks good in makeup. with harkness, we have to leave it to our imaginations.
on the other, we know for a FACT that harkness has a fit arse. having never seen sparrow's arse (bearing in mind i'm talking about character rather than actor, and i am therefore not talking about johnny depp's albeit magnificent arse), from what we know of his habits, he could have a very nasty bum indeed.
the question is this - what's fitter, makeup or arse?
*is torn*

And charm, what about charm? Harkness is almost naturally charming/flirty, but Sparrow is at his most charming when he wants to be. BUT.....Sparrow has a cooler hat.
Plus, Sparrow is utterly devoted to his ship, so if he could be torn away from it, and fell in love PROPERLY, he COULD be a very devoted and loving husband/father. Despite being a pirate. Note the COULD. Harkness seems to want to sleep with everyone/anyone.
Harkness has an invisible spaceship....oh, wait, that arguement can't work, it blew up.

NOOOOOOO! *un-kidnaps both and puts them back in thread* Now, we need to decide... And can I point out that Sparrow is also up for a good time with just about any girl in Tortuga? Hence the slapping...
The real question is: would you prefer to be dumped for another girl, or for someone who could be of any number of species?

Harkness would die to save someone. Would Sparrow?

Only by accident.

Yes. Sparrow would only do it if he had some kind of back-up plan which fell through. Harkness does it just as long as he has a drink.
