GET ONE THING STRAIGHT - I do not consider myself an expert in this subject. I just write a fair bit myself and know what I hate about my own writing, and what I think works.
Basically, in this I'll set you little creative writing exercises, where I give you a scenario and you write a short story (only a few pages! Or the beginning of a longer one, if the plot bunny grabs you and doesn't let go), and post it on here, and everyone else taking part reads it and tells you what they think.
Task 1, inspired by drama club this morning: Take a typical scene from a rom com/ teen drama. You know the cliche ones - dorky girl winning Prom Queen, reconciliation in the rain, some sort of confrontation with parents - you get the idea. Anyway, make it seem like all those cliched scenes, BUT THEN have a twist and completely turn it around.
You can either do it to be dramatic, or to make fun of it, or to suddenly change genres, or any other reason that grabs you.
I know deadlines are never kept, but shall we have a rough one of 1 April? You can also ask for help from other people.
Anyone thinking about trying?

I don't watch rom coms or teen dramas. Dammit. Buffy doesn't count. Does it? I could have a really weird scene in a cemetary...

... that... would be weird.
You remember the beginning of the first episode of Buffy? Joss Whedon did it there - playing on the old cliche of dumb blonde being lead into trouble, but suddenly it turning out the dumb blonde was the vampire all along.

Also with Buffy (dumb blonde) walking down an alley, getting attacked by vamps, and kicking the hell out them

Well, yes, that's an ongoing cliche-whup-ass scenario ;D
