Right. Thanks.
Tell me how you die, please! Or, if Katie won't let you, then give me the order in which you die.

David: .... How we die?
Alex: I don't think even Katie knows yet.
Jack: I die first! *pride*
Carys: And I die second, I think...
Anna: I die before Thomas.
David: And out of our lot, I'm last. I have no idea about Alex, Emily and Sean.
Emily: I think it's either Sean or me who dies first out of us three.

And WHO, or what, kills each of you?

Jack: Soldiers. Because Alex ordered them to.
Carys: Assassins. Because Alex ordered Sean to order them to.
Jack: Hey, how come you get assassins and I get plain soldiers?
Carys: Because I was royalty, dear.
Jack: *snort* Favouritism.
Anna: I die of an illness. I think I got off lightly, considering.
Thomas: And our son killed me. I'm sure he got the inner rage from your side of the family, Anna, I don't have enough rage to swat a fly.
David: Alex killed me in person.
Sean: No idea.
Emily: Me neither. Katie really needs to think about that...
Alex: Me neither, but enough people try.
James: Emily kills me. On Alex's orders. Geez, is there anyone he DIDN'T order to be killed?

*sweetly* James, I didn't ask you. So shut up.
How is killing someone with assasins because they're royalty favouritism? That implies that Alex prefered Carys to you, Jack. Probably assasains would know how to get near royalty better, if they were guarded.
So that's 3/8 of you indirectly or directly killed by Alex. Hmmm... Why am I not surprised?
Why did your son kill you Thomas?

Carys: It's not. Jack was just being silly.
Jack: No, it's not, really. I get cornered in some village in the middle of nowhere and killed before I can say anything. Carys, she gets a full-blown assassination! She ends up in history books! Heck, she gets an annual memorial service and parade!
Carys: What can I say? I'm special.
Thomas: My son killed me because... well... Alex told him to.
Alex: Had to make sure he inherited the Earth power. Especially after that mix-up with Anna and Will. Caused a lot of trouble for us, that did...
Anna: I'm so terribly sorry that me dying caused an inconvenience.
Alex: Don't worry, it's fine. Basically, their son Sam was already on our side. We needed the Earth power on our side, and as you know, the power goes to whichever family member or friend the person is thinking of when they die. I was already aware that Thomas was far fonder of his daughter Beth than his son-
Thomas: Not true! I loved them equally! How can you say that?
Alex: Well, you hadn't seen Sam in quite a while, and thought him dead.... surely your affections would have been transferred to Beth.
Thomas: (shakes head in disbelief)
Alex: I had to make sure he was thinking of Sam. So I got Sam to do it. Also meant we could turn that lot against Emily's good-for-nothing son by making them think he'd done it...

Oh, so it's HALF of you murdered by Alex. How.....suitable. Your callousness is fascinating.
How are you special Carys?

Carys: .... No reason. I just happened to be married to the King of Niria. So killing me wasn't just him doing his random collecting of powers, it was a political statement. Oh - and because it was done by sorcerers, an excuse to deploy soldiers to hunt down the others.

.....Alex seems to bear most of the responsibility for (bad) things that happen in this story.
Who's tried to kill you then Alex?

Alex: Well, that lot wouldn't have turned down the chance... some Monotheists... other rebel groups... but I remember David's son George had a fair attempt at one point.
David: Can you blame him? You'd imprisoned him from a young age, playing with his brain - you killed his adoptive mother and, he thought, his sister - and finally killed me.

Yup, that seems like a pretty good collection of reasons to me.
Adoptive mother?

David: Meg. She and I found him, and raised him ourselves.

OOOOOOH.........Yup, that makes sense.
Alex, why did you kill Meg? I thought you liked her.

Alex: I didn't.
David: Yes you did.
Alex: I didn't.
David: You gave the order, at least.
Alex: She wasn't supposed to be killed! I had no reason to kill her. Those soldiers were sent for you. But you weren't in the right place, you'd gone off somewhere - she was there - she challanged them. It was a mistake.
