Not just small - smallEST. Minimus is the superlative, and can mean 'very very small' or 'smallest'. Minor is a comparative, meaning 'smaller', and minus is the word for 'small'.

Foramen => hole , and example being your obturator foramen, which is in your hip
Fossa => a depression, and example is your infrascapular fossa, which in on your shoulder blade
